I was born in 1981 and grew up in the country-side near the old and beautiful town of Ribe which has a quiteactive cultural life that is unfortunately constantly challenged by the menace of local right-wing and ignorant politicians with little understanding of the mechanisms of creativity.

My father, playing the organ in the cathedral of Ribe and performing concerts in both Europe and the States and, having little luck in making musicians of his first five children, decided that I, at the age of seven, should learn to play the piano. After almost two years of intense struggle he wisely abandoned the idea and instead presented me with a turtle that later escaped into the surrounding woods and vanished forever.

It was not until I was 12 that found myself engaged in music again and it happened rather accidentally: My teacher in the obligatory music classes wanted our class to perform a piece at the spring concert and when she asked who wanted to play the bass the boy in front of me raised his arm. Fatigue or divine interference made her think that it was my arm and I got the “gig”. My parents, seeing the last chance of corrupting my existence with music, got me an electric bass when i was 13 and at 17, lended me the money to buy a double bass. Abandoning my homework in high school and instead focusing on making it to the conservatory, I started wrestling this low-frequency symbol of immobility and suffering the ever-present remark “you should have chosen the piccolo-flute, boy”, only being able to reciprocate with a smile and a “yes” out of fear of depriving the joker of the thought that he just invented the funniest remark ever made.

In the spring of 2007 I finished my diploma studies at the conservatory of Music and commuinication in Esbjerg
